The Japanese shear uses a soft steel
and is made to cut hair when wet. Todays
styles also require dry cutting. For this
type of cutting, you should change to
a harder steel (cobalt). This will save
your softer metal shear because when hair
dries and you continue to use the shear,
the blades will warp and lose their edge.
Using your tools on hair with the correct
moisture condition saves the quality and
sharpness of your tool.
