Beauty expert Marita shows us that all seasons have
their unique style, technique and type of makeup
that can suit you. Your makeup needs to be prepared
for rainy days, hot days or a beautiful spring day
as you don't want your foundation to melt off your
face on a hot summer's night.
As we have reached the freezing, rainy days of
winter, your skin care routine and cosmetics need
to be looked over and prepared for the chilly
season
Your winter look will need to be updated with
a more alluring and elegant look. Shades such
as coffee, chocolate and smokey shades for eyes
and berry tones for lips and cheeks are winters
must wears. Matte foundation with a touch of bronzing
powder for that winters glow is also a necessity!
Dab a hint of lip gloss on your lips and your
ready to ski down the slopes.
Here are some tips you can use this Freezing Winter season…
Disguise Dark Circles
With winter colds going around so often, you may
find that it can create puffiness as well as under
eye shadows. As we grow older, the skin around
our eyes becomes thinner, making these problems
more noticeable. I find that using a yellow based
concealer a shade lighter then the foundation
base works best to hide the shadows. Apply it
as close to the lash line as you can and blend
it inwards towards your nose.
Brighten
up Pale Cheeks
You want that golden glow during the cold winter
months. You don't want the whole pale ghost look.
Bring back that bronzer! I find that reddish brown
tones are more of a match when I'm at work. Don't
go more that 2 shades darker than your skin tone
or you'll look too blotchy. Use a large blush
brush and lightly tap your forehead, nose, cheeks
and chin. I like also adding a touch of pink blush
to the tops of cheekbones as they both work well
together.
Get Your Eyes Staring
To ensure that your eye shadow lasts and doesn't
run due to the rainy or windy conditions, apply
face powder or foundation on your lids to absorb
excess oil. Be sure to use long lasting formulas
which are designed to last and not crease.
Pucker Up Those Lips
Take care of your lips and ensure that they don't
dry out or flake during winter. Remove dead skin
cells by exfoliating your lips, moisturising and
conditioning them before applying lipstick. Ensure
you use cream lipsticks as they're moister than
matte formulas.
